SERVICE AGREEMENT ON FEES & APPOINTMENTS
We see the client-practitioner relationship as a cooperative one, aimed at alleviating the client's concerns or difficulties. The practitioner commits to contribute their knowledge and expertise in a warm, professional and ethical manner. We see the client's role as taking an active part in the treatment program, both within and between consultation sessions. The client's role also includes following some basic guidelines regarding fees and appointments.
In making your initial appointment, you are acknowledging your understanding and acceptance of these guidelines.
Rebates and Referrals
Psychology and Clinical Psychology services are covered by Medicare, where the client is referred by a medical specialist, or by a General Practitioner as part of a Mental Health Care Plan developed by the doctor. For standard 50 minute Clinical Psychology and Psychology consultations, the Medicare rebates are $117.65 and $80.20, respectively.
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate for Psychology or Clinical Psychology services, if your policy includes Ancillary Cover. Rebates vary slightly from one fund to another, so it is suggested that clients contact their health fund for current rebate rates.
Fees
From July 2009, the Australian Psychological Society recommended fee for standard consultations (50+ mins) with a Psychologist is $206.00. We are striving to make our services affordable, while ensuring our financial viability. From January 2010, the following fees apply. Consultations for psychological assessment and/or individual therapy, including first consultation:
Clinical Psychologists $180.00
Psychologists $140.00
Bulk billing is available for holders of Pension Cards. In case of financial hardship, please discuss your circumstances with the Office Manager, Andrew Crosby.
Payment is required at the time of consultation. Payments may be made by EFTPOS, MasterCard or Visa, or by cash or cheque.
Cancellation Policy
When you make an appointment to see one of our Psychologists, we reserve the hour just for you. In a recent 3 month period, late cancellations and non-attendance at appointments cost our practice $25,000. This is not sustainable. Accordingly, we require 24 hours notice of any need to change or cancel an appointment. The full fee will be charged for non-attendance, or cancellation with less than 24 hours notice. In the case of Pension Card holders, the full bulk billing amount will be payable by the client. These fees must be paid at least 5 working days prior to the next appointment. The fee may be waived on production of a Medical Certificate showing sudden onset of illness. Please note that Medicare and private health funds will not cover fees incurred for late cancellations or missed appointments. In situations of genuine financial hardship, please arrange to discuss your situation with the Office Manager.
Dr Pamela Seaton & Associates reserves the right to reschedule appointments at any time without compensation, if it is deemed necessary due to staff illness or other unforeseen circumstances.
